Celebrate National Donut Day with Purpose and Pastries at the 2025 Salvation Army National Donut Day World Donut Eating Championship
Donut enthusiasts and champions of tradition—mark your calendars for June 6th, as the National World War I Memorial in Washington, D.C., becomes the site of a truly meaningful celebration. The Salvation Army National Donut Day World Donut Eating Championship returns in honor of service, history, and a deep-fried American classic.
A Tribute in Every Bite: National Donut Day traces its roots to The Salvation Army “Donut Lassies”, who served sweet comfort to American soldiers on the front lines of World War I. As we gather near this solemn memorial, we do more than crown a champion—we remember a legacy of sacrifice, compassion, and resilience.
A Record That Still Rings Loud: Last year, James Webb set a towering world record, devouring 70 glazed donuts in eight minutes. This year, competitors return with one goal: to beat the record and honor the tradition. Will Webb reign again, or will a new contender rise to the occasion?
Donuts with a Difference: This event is proudly presented in partnership with BakeMark USA and The Salvation Army, celebrating not only a unique piece of American history, but also supporting ongoing community efforts and honoring those who serve.
The Sweet Taste of Victory: With a $3,000 prize purse and $1,500 to the winner, competitors have more than glory on the line. But for many, the true reward lies in being part of a celebration that blends heartfelt history with high-octane competition.
Join the Tradition: Whether you're stepping up to compete or simply soaking in the atmosphere, this is more than a contest—it’s a celebration of courage, commitment, and community. Against the backdrop of our nation’s capital and the solemn beauty of the World War I Memorial, the stakes feel bigger, and the meaning deeper.
Be there when history meets hunger. Register now to compete or reserve your spot in the crowd and witness a powerful fusion of tradition, tribute, and glazed determination.
This June 6th, let’s honor the past—and eat for a purpose.
